No. 23 Men's Tennis Rallies Past Stevens, 5-4

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Senior Malik Mubeen's 6-3, 6-1 victory from No. 6 singles proved to be the difference, as the No. 23 Swarthmore College men's tennis team (2-0) rallied from an early doubles deficit to defeat Stevens 5-4 on Saturday afternoon from the Mullan Tennis Center.

Mubeen was the Garnet's only double-winner for the day, as he teammed with freshman Billy Lennon to earn Swat's only doubles points, 8-1, from the No. 3 position.

Junior Anthony Collard rallied to win his No. 1 singles match in three sets (6-0, 3-6, 6-4), but the Ducks won at the numbers two and three spots to go on the verge of an upset victory.

With its back against the wall, Swarthmore rallied to win singles' 4 through 6, pulling out the win. Junior Preston Poon won at the No. 4 spot 6-2, 7-6 (1), sophomore Irving Stone was dominant from No. 5 (6-1, 6-0) and Mubeen cliniched it by winning match point from the No. 6 spot (6-3, 6-1).

Swarthmore returns to action from California as part of its annual Spring Break Trip. The Garnet open up play against No. 1 Kenyon on March 10.
