Tobin Adams joined Swarthmore as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Internal Operations in 2019-20.

The Assistant Director of Athletics for Internal Operations oversees athletics facilities management,  rentals, equipment room operations, event management, game scheduling, contracts, and student employment. This role was established with an NCAA Division III Strategic Alliance Matching Grant.

Adams has been instrumental in Swarthmore Athletics capital planning efforts and facility enhancements.  Most recently, Adams was apart of the planning team for the Cloither Field Stadium and Walter T. Skallerup Track renovation. Adams also played a pivotal role in Mullan Tennis Center renovations as well.

Currently, Adams serves on the Swarthmore College strategic plan steering committee. In the 2022 academic year, President Smith appointed Adams to lead the College’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee. Adams also serves as a co-adviser to ADI (Athletes for Diversity & Inclusion), led by a group of Swarthmore student-athletes.

Adams came to Swarthmore College during the 2019-20 school year as the new Assistant Director of Athletics for Internal Operations. Adams comes to Swarthmore after serving 3 years as the Coordinator of Athletic Facilities & Campus Recreation at Arcadia University.  While at Arcadia Tobin oversaw campus recreation offerings along with athletic event and facility management operations including student employment for the department. 

Under his leadership, Adams increased student participation through various campus recreation programs including intramurals, group exercise, and one-day events.  During his three-year tenure, Adams partnered with Gwynedd Mercy intramural program to launch the “Battle of 309” extramural events that included basketball and flag football games for each institution's intramural league champions.

While at Arcadia, Adams piloted group exercise offerings for the campus community. Additionally, Adams was responsible for hiring, training, and supervising student workers for various roles including gameday operations, team managers, intramural officials, and facility attendants. 

Adams served as the athletic facilities and operations liaison to various campus partners including Facilities Management & Capital Planning, Events and Space Relations, and Student Affairs. Adams was also responsible for scheduling  Athletic Facilities Assistants and students to operate the Kuch Recreation and Athletic Center.

Prior to Arcadia, Adams served a stint at Widener University as the Coordinator of Intramural Sports. Adams implemented a new framework for intramural sports, where students could participate at no cost. In addition, Adams spearheaded new intramural program offerings such as esports, sand volleyball, and bracket challenges. 

In Adams's stint at Widener, he created an Intramural All-Star honors program that was awarded to the top intramural sports participants by their peers. Adams also took an All-Star Flag Football team to the University of Maryland to compete in the NIRSA Regional Flag Football Championship.
 
In 2021 Adams was hosted for the NCAA Division III Institute for Administrative Advancement.  Adams is a 2012 graduate of Bloomsburg University where he studied business administration and participated as a member of the Huskies' football team. Adams currently serves as the Offensive Coordinator for the Mount Pleasant High School Green Knights in Wilmington, DE. 

Tobin and his wife Pam have two daughters Ricki and Taylor.
