Matt Mizanin was hired as the Director of Athletic Communications in January 2022.
Since joining the Garnet, Mizanin has been pivotal in overhauling the department's social media presence and online branding. His background in graphic design and photography has helped boost engagement on all social media platforms with a focus on Instagram. Mizanin recently led a website redesign with SIDEARM Sports and sat on the Centennial Conference's redesign committee.
Before arriving at Swarthmore, Mizanin was most recently the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at nearby Arcadia University. Mizanin, joined the Knights in July of 2019, was the recipient of the 2019-20 ECAC Staff Service Award. He helped grow Arcadia's Instagram account by nearly 45-percent in his first year with new content, including a weekly video segment called "Ask the Knights".
During the 2018-19 academic year, Mizanin served as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Misericordia University. Mizanin worked to overhaul the department's Instagram account, while creating a more consistent presence and branding on the platform. In addition to providing coverage for all 24 programs, Mizanin designed programs, press credentials, media packets and tickets for the NCAA Baseball Super Regional hosted by the Cougars.
Mizanin earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from Rowan University. While a member of the Profs, he wrote for the school newspaper on the sports and crime beats, while also working as a student assistant for the Sports Information Department.
Mizanin currently resides in Media with his wife, Kait.
