Lurie joined Swarthmore as Head Athletic Trainer during the 2023-24 academic year. He brings over 20 years of industry expertise to an already experienced and dedicated athletic training staff.

Lurie recently served as the Head Athletic Trainer at SUNY New Paltz for over a decade. Since joining the Hawks in 2012, he provided athletic training support for 16 NCAA Division III varsity athletic programs. He also took on administrative duties, which included the management of staff members, budgeting, and establishing policy and procedures to improve the sports medicine facility.

Prior to his arrival in New Paltz, Lurie spent time in Northeastern Pennsylvania at the University of Scranton. Luire worked as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Royals from 2008-2012, while also serving as an adjunct professor for one semester at nearby Marywood University. He instructed a course on the Introduction to Athletic Training, which was designed to expose interested students to athletic training.

Before earning the head position at Scranton, Lurie spent three years as an assistant at Lafayette College. He also previously served as an assistant at Eastern Mennonite University, where he began his professional career, from 2003-05.

Lurie earned his Master of Science degree in Nutrition and Physical Activity from James Madison University in 2005. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training with a minor in nutrition from West Chester University in 2003.
