John Jaudon begins his 20th season as an assistant coach with the Swarthmore track and field programs, primarily coaching the sprinters and hurdlers.
Under Jaudon’s guidance, the Garnet have broken school records in 10 women’s events encompassing sprints, hurdles and sprint relays. He most notably mentored Imo Akpan, a 2002 NCAA All-American indoors and outdoors in the 400-meter dash. Akpan, who never competed competitively prior to coming to the institution, was recently inducted into the Swarthmore Athletics Hall of Fame and still holds six individual school records.
Jaudon was a four-time Division II All-American in the 800-meter run while attending Johnson C. Smith University. A native of Philadelphia, Pa., Jaudon also earned All-American honors running the 800 at the legendary track-and-field powerhouse Overbrook High School.
