Priyana Kalita

Priyana Kalita joined the women's tennis coaching staff as an assistant coach in January 2023.

The first-year coach comes from India and is a former Division I scholarship athlete for four years at Miami University (Ohio). They graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology (Coaching) and Bachelor of Arts degree in Women Gender and Sexuality Studies in 2021. After Miami, they went to graduate school at Florida State University and earned a Master of Science Degree in Sport Management in 2022.

Prior to being a student athlete Kalita was ranked 490 in ITF Junior rankings, top-13 in India and number one in their state. 

At Miami, Kalita started in singles and doubles for the 2019 Mid-American Conference Regular Season Championship team. Off the court, they garnered many distinctions and were awarded the 2020 Mid-American Conference Diversity and Inclusion Student-Athlete award, the 2021 Senior service and Employee Leadership awards and was one of 20 seniors out of the entire graduating class of 2021 to be awarded the President’s Distinguished Service award for work on and off campus. 

At Florida State, they worked as a graduate teaching assistant and taught the tennis classes offered by the Life Time Activities Program. Kalita is currently a High Performance Tennis Coach and practice partner at Junior Tennis Champions Center in College Park, Maryland. They are currently coaching and working as a practice partner for top-10 USTA nationally-ranked players in addition to ITF Junior tennis players, who are ranked within the top-100 and top-600 ITF professional circuit players in the world.
