Dusty Nelson joined the Swarthmore Women's Tennis team as an assistant in the Fall of 2016.
Nelson is a graduate of Christopher Newport University in Newport News Virginia where he received his bachelor's degree in philosophy and religious studies. At Christopher Newport, he was a member of the varsity tennis team and a two-time second-team all-conference selection. His team reached the finals of the conference tournament in all four years as a player and also achieved their highest national ranking (No. 18) in program history during his freshman year. Nelson stands fourth overall in doubles wins in school history.
Prior to coming to Swarthmore, Dusty worked as the Head Assistant at Bedford Golf and Tennis Club in Bedford, N.Y., Fairfield Country Club in Fairfield, Conn., and Director of Paddle Tennis at Waccabuc Country Club in Waccabuc, N.Y.
In 2015, he returned to Christopher Newport University to finish his degree and also acted as a volunteer assistant coach for the Men's and Women's Tennis teams which had successful seasons finishing in the final national ranking poll and in the top 10 of the Atlantic South region.Â
