Hannah Harris (nee Allison) became the head coach of Swarthmore College Field Hockey prior to the start of the 2017 season.
The Garnet achieved their first national ranking in over two decades during the 2023 campaign. Swarthmore was ranked for six weeks and was slotted as high as No. 18. The squad advanced to the Centennial Championship for the first time since 2000. Anna Stancofski became the program's first All-American since 2000.
The 2018 campaign saw Swarthmore finish in seventh place in league action, the highest finish for the team since 2011.
In her first season as Swarthmore's head coach, Harris guided the Garnet to seven wins, the most for the program since 2012.
Harris came to Swarthmore from Bucknell University and had experience at both the Division I and III levels. Harris was an assistant coach at Bucknell since the 2015 season and helped the Bison to two Patriot League Tournament appearances and an upset win over No. 12 Albany in 2016. Prior to coaching at Bucknell, Harris coached for two seasons at Division III Ohio Wesleyan University where she was the assistant coach in 2013 and the interim head coach in 2014. As head coach, Harris guided the team to a 10-9 record and closed out the season with a 7-3 stretch.
As a student-athlete at Penn State University, Harris started in 79 games, scored 26 goals and played in three NCAA tournaments, advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals her final two seasons. She was a two-time captain and twice won the Big Ten regular season (2008, 2012) and conference tournament (2011, 2012). She graduated from Penn State in 2013 with a bachelor's in kinesiology.
Harris is a qualified level-two coach and also is the head coach for the U19 Junior Premier Outdoor, Regional Club Championship, and National Indoor Teams for The Main Line Field Hockey Club based out of Wayne, Pennsylvania.
Harris resides in nearby Rutledge with her husband Jared.
