Scott Kelley

Scott Kelley has been the Pitching Development Coordinator and Bullpen Coach for Swarthmore since 2019.

Before coaching at Swarthmore, Kelley was the Head Varsity Baseball Coach at West Chester East High School from 2014-2017.  The Vikings qualified for the District 1 playoffs all four years under the helm of Coach Kelley, including a state playoff berth in 2015.  While working with the team's pitchers, Kelley helped the WC East pitching staff boast a 2.37 ERA over 4 seasons comprised of over 600 innings, including a team ERA of just 1.82 in 2017.

In 2014, Kelley founded the PA Playmakers travel baseball organization, which he owned and coached for six years.  In 2017, he coached the 15u Playmakers to a Perfect Game National Championship.

In addition to coaching, Kelley currently provides private baseball instruction. He has previous experience providing pitching and hitting instruction at the Athletic Barn in Wheeling, IL where he also helped start their Pitchers Training Program. He provided pitching, hitting, throwing, and fielding instruction at the Maplezone Sports Institute where he was the Head Pitching Instructor and Director of the MSI MuckDawgs Travel Baseball Program.

Kelley grew up in Arlington Heights, IL where he played baseball for Hersey High School under IHS Hall-of-Fame coach Bob Huber. He attended Penn State University, where he played four years as a pitcher and outfielder under head coach Robbie Wine. Kelley earned a degree in Rehabilitation Services from Penn State. 

After being selected in the 23rd Round of the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft by the Kansas City Royals, Kelley played over three season for the Burlington Royals, Idaho Falls Chukars, Burlington Bees, Wilmington Blue Rocks and the Evansville Otters. 

Kelley currently resides in West Chester, Pennsylvania with his wife Alison, and sons Nolan and Cole.
