André Butler, who is originally from Philadelphia, came to Swarthmore after spending the past 4 seasons with Penn State. He re-joined the Swarthmore Baseball staff as an assistant coach prior to the 2020 season after working as an assistant with the team for part of the 2012-13 school year.
Butler served as the Nittany Lions third base coach and outfield coach. During his time at Penn State, he created his "Graveyard" brand - a place where the hopes of base hits are laid to rest. The Graveyard brand has grown across the baseball community and is now represented by multiple former and current MLB players.
Butler also spent time as an assistant at University of Pennsylvania and DeSales University. He has been a featured speaker at ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association), Pennsylvania Baseball Coaches Clinic, and many podcasts during his 8 year coaching career.
Butler has also been extremely active in his community as he sits on the board for "3-2 Count Foundation". 3-2 Count is a non profit organization geared towards helping underprivileged youth reach their goals.
Butler will be coaching first base for the Garnet while implementing defensive strategies during games.
