EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – The Swarthmore College golf team began the 2026-27 season with the opening round of the George Cangero Invitational at Eisenhower Park on Saturday.
The Garnet sit in a tie for sixth place after producing a score of 315 in round one.
Michael Yuen was the top individual for Swarthmore, shooting a 75 (+3).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Yuen was at even-par through eight holes before sinking an eagle on the ninth to go two-under. However, the sophomore struggled on the back nine and finished with a 75. He is currently 11
th on the leaderboard.

Frank Zhou was right behind Yuen with a 76 (+4) and sits in 15
th place. He produced a pair of birdies. Playing as an individual,
Max Ash recorded three birdies on his way to a 78 (+6), good for 23
rd place.

Phelps Wang and
Michael Colabianchi each carded an 81 (+9). Wang sank two birdies and Colabianchi scored one.
Alex Lyu and
Judah Fulchiero rounded out the squad with an 83 (+11) and 84 (+12) respectively. Fulchiero also eagled the ninth hole and added a birdie.
