Men’s Lacrosse Falls to Dickinson in CC Semifinals

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College men's lacrosse team had its Centennial Championship hopes come to an end with a 13-6 loss at No. 8 Dickinson College in the semifinals on Thursday. The Garnet wrap up the season with an 11-8 record, capturing their fourth-straight season with double-digit wins.

Rex Mabbs tallied a team-high three points on two goals and an assist. The senior ends his career with 100 career goals, finishing just outside the program's top-10 all-time. Owen Hoffman also notched a pair of scores, while Clay Almgren and Andrew Stodden accounted for the other two tallies.

Jack McHenry went 10-for-16 in the faceoff circle, while collecting a team-high six ground balls. Drew Tyson was also steady in goal, making 13 saves in a full 60 minutes.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Dickinson opened the scoring before George countered with Swarthmore's first goal at the 9:59 mark. The Red Devils would control the remainder of the stanza with three-unanswered goals in the final seven minutes. Drew Tyson helped limit damage with five saves as the hosts held a 12-7 shot advantage.

- The Red Devils tilted momentum further in their favor with five-unanswered goals in the second period. Swarthmore attempted four shots in the quarter, but were unable to sneak one past the nationally-ranked Dickinson defense. The Red Devils went into halftime with a 9-1 advantage.

- Dickinson kept piling on with three more goals in the third, while blanking the Garnet for the second-straight stanza. Swarthmore had seven shots and three attempts on goal during the period.

- Swarthmore made a late surge in the fourth quarter, but were unable to dig themselves out of its early deficit. George ended the Garnet scoring drought with 11:38 left in the fourth. Stodden, Mabbs and Almgren then followed with goals before Dickinson added its lone tally of the quarter. With 1:28 left, Mabbs reached the 100 goal milestone with the game's final tally.
