SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College men's lacrosse team dropped its regular season finale to Haverford College, 12-11, on Saturday afternoon at Clothier Field Stadium.
The teams went back and forth throughout the opening half and were even at six at halftime. The score remained tied, this time at eight apiece, after three quarters of play. The Fords then gained the upper hand with a 4-1 run in the final period and went ahead 12-9 with 4:07 to play. The Garnet tallied back-to-back goals to get within one but Haverford held off Swarthmore for the win.
Nolan Ohrman led the Garnet with four points on three goals and one assist.
Rex Mabbs totaled two goals and one assist. Both seniors were honored prior to the game along with
Sam Palmer,
Clay Almgren,
Sawyer Paul,
Nate Campbell,
Ryan Pretzer,
Drew Tyson,
Jack Nicholson,
Owen Hoffman, and
Ryder Maston. Six other Swarthmore players found the back of the net.
The Garnet wrapped up the conference schedule with a 4-4 mark. Swarthmore is the fifth seed for the Centennial Conference Tournament and will travel to fourth-seeded Muhlenberg College on Tuesday for the first round.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Haverford opened the game with two goals but the Garnet bounced back with three in a row to lead 3-2 with 1:27 to go in the first quarter. Ohrman,
Dylan Ah Now, and Mabbs beat the goalkeeper for Swarthmore. The Fords closed the frame with a tally at the 10-second mark to tie it up entering the second.

Ronan Butler put the Garnet back in front with 9:04 on the clock in the second but the visitors responded with three unanswered to take a 6-4 advantage with 1:25 left. Ohrman and Almgren both potted goals in the final minute to bring Swarthmore level at the break.
- Both teams scored twice in the third quarter. Hoffman (6:52) and
Ben Zabierek (1:10) found the back of the net for the Garnet. The Fords netted back-to-back tallies in the fourth to take a 10-8 lead with 6:44 remaining. Ohrman answered for Swarthmore at the 5:58 mark but Haverford scored two more goals to up the difference to three (12-9) with 4:07 to play.

Owen George (1:19) and Mabbs (0:09) fired back for the Garnet but Swarthmore lost the final draw and the Fords held on for the victory.
