CLERMONT, FL. - The Swarthmore College softball team extended its win streak to five games with victories over Heidelberg University, 14-0, and No. 11 Moravian University, 8-2, on Tuesday.
The Garnet had a busy day on the base paths, totaling 10 hits and eight walks in a five-inning rout over Heidelberg. Jazziah Manning entered the game in the fifth, but made a massive impact, notching two hits in the frame with a three-run, inside-the-park home run and a single. Emilee Espinoza and Avery McClure also had big performances, combining for four hits and five RBI, while Lane Barron took control in the circle with five-scoreless innings.Â
Lilly Goldberg allowed no earned runs in seven strong innings to help lift the Garnet past nationally-ranked Moravian. Espinoza and Regan Valenzuela each contributed three RBI in an impressive win. Espinoza combined for five RBI in the double-header, while Valenzuela and McClure each drove home four runs.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Valenzuela hit a one-out single in the first inning and stole second base to help scrape across an early run for the Garnet. McClure then grounded out to third to bring home Valenzuela, making it 1-0.Â
- The Garnet added three runs in the third after Elisabeth O'Connor and Iris Barone both reached to open the frame. Swarthmore tacked on the first run on an error, before Espinoza doubled home two more. Barron then shut down Heidelberg in the third with a 1-2-3 inning, preserving the team's 4-0 advantage.Â
- Swarthmore continued to add to its total with a run in the fourth. Rae Barron worked a one-out walk and advanced into scoring position on a Barone single. She later touched home on a Valenzuela single to build a five-run cushion.Â
- The Garnet finished off Heidelberg with nine runs on four hits in the fifth. Linnaea Rasmussen and Jazziah Manning opened the inning with singles, before the team scored two runs on a wild pitch and a throwing error. The Garnet later added two more runs on a fielding error, while McClure doubled home another pair. Manning then busted open the inning with an inside the park, three-run homer to take a commanding 14-0 lead.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Goldberg got her squad off to a strong start, tossing a quick 1-2-3 frame to open the game. Barone kickstarted the offense with a leadoff triple and later came home to score on a fielding error.Â
- Swarthmore added to its lead with two runs in the second inning. Ava Babcock started the rally with a one-out double, while O'Connor followed with a single. Barone then grounded out to plate the first runner, while Valenzuela singled home the second tally, making it 3-0.
- Goldberg faced the minimum after three innings. The sophomore coasted through the opening nine batters without allowing a baserunner. However, Muhlenberg inched closer to the Garnet with a pair of runs in the fourth. The Greyhounds took advantage of two Swarthmore errors to claw across a couple unearned runs, making it 3-2.Â
- Swarthmore responded in the bottom of the fourth with two runs. O'Connor and Barone both singled to open the rally, while Valenzuela and Espinoza brought the pair home with a single and a ground out.Â
- Espinoza added to a remarkable afternoon with a two-run double in the sixth inning. McClure then plated the game's final run with a sacrifice fly, expanding the team's lead to 8-2.Â
