No. 14 Field Hockey Falls to No. 12 F&M in Regular Season Finale, Locks Up Second Seed

LANCASTER, Pa. - The No. 14 Swarthmore College field hockey team dropped its regular season finale against Franklin & Marshall College, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon. The Garnet locked up the second seed in the Centennial Tournament with a 7-3 conference mark and will host a semifinals matchup on Thursday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Diplomats quickly countered with an equalizer in the seventh minute, before adding on a go-ahead score in the 10th minute.

- The Garnet were in search of an early equalizer to start the second, but had a couple shot attempts blocked in the 23rd minute. Swarthmore's defense held strong in the stanza, holding the home team without a single shot attempt.

- Franklin & Marshall opened the second half with a quick score to build a 3-1 lead. Following a penalty corner, Sarno stopped the Diplomats first attempt, but could not stuff the second-chance opportunity. The Garnet were outshot 3-0 in the period.
