Women’s Tennis Advances Past Dickinson to Sunday’s Championship

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The No. 23 Swarthmore College women's tennis team defeated Dickinson College, 4-0, in the semifinals of the Centennial Tournament on Friday.

As the top seed, Swarthmore will advance to the championship finals, where they will host [opponent] on Sunday. The Garnet are looking to secure their first Centennial title since 2006 and fourth under head coach Jeremy Loomis.

Ella Strickler was a standout, earning two victories at No. 3 doubles and No. 4 singles. Lisa Messier sealed the team's win with a victory at No. 5 singles.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kathleen Shiffer/ Erin Li won at No. 2 doubles to start the Garnet off with a 6-0 victory. Riya Rao/ Strickler then secured the highly-coveted doubles point with a 6-1 decision. The pairing has won 14-straight matches. 

- Strickler captured her second win with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 4 singles for her sixth-straight singles win.

- Madeline Posner extended her match win streak to six games with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.

- Lisa Messier played the role of clincher, winning at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-0. The junior sent the Garnet to the championship with her sixth-straight win.

The Garnet (15-4) host Franklin & Marshall in the Centennial Championship finals on Sunday.
