Women’s Lacrosse Completes Comeback Over Skidmore, Daugherty Scores Six Goals

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Swarthmore College women's lacrosse team remained unbeaten with an exciting comeback victory over Skidmore College, 14-13, on Monday morning. The Garnet have opened the season with five-straight wins for the third-straight year.

Swarthmore faced its biggest test of the season after falling behind by four goals at the end of the opening stanza. The Garnet then outscored the Thoroughbreds in the remaining three quarters with a 6-3 advantage in the fourth to close the game.

Aubree Daugherty paced the Garnet with a career-best six goals. Carly Rodrigues-Reilly, Kela Watts, Isabela Bloomquist and Elizabeth Zack all tallied a pair of goals, respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Daugherty opened the scoring in the first minute of action, before Skidmore evened the score just moments later. Zack then put the Garnet in front at the 10:51 mark until the Thoroughbreds rattled off five scores to close the opening stanza, 6-2.

- Zack got the Garnet back on track with the opening goal of the second quarter. Swarthmore had gone nearly 18 minutes without a score until the senior found the back of the net at the 7:48 mark. Skidmore then countered with its lone tally of the quarter, but Bloomquist got the goal back for Swarthmore in the final minutes of the half, 7-4.

- Daugherty scored her first of three third-quarter goals to open the second half. The Thoroughbreds responded with a tally within the same minute, but the Garnet recaptured momentum with a pair of Daugherty goals sandwiched between a Watts score to tie the game. However, Skidmore exited the quarter with the lead after adding on two late scores, 10-8.

- Swarthmore got off to a quick start with three-straight goals to open the final quarter. Bloomquist scored within the first minute, while Watts connected on the game-tying score with 13:37 left. Moments later, Rodrigues-Reilly found the back of the net to put Swarthmore in front. The Thoroughbreds countered with the equalizer, before Rodrigues-Reilly regained the lead with another go-ahead tally at the 6:21 mark.

- Later in the fourth, Skidmore punched back with another game-tying score. Daugherty then rose to the occasion with back-to-back goals to build the Garnet a two-goal cushion. The Thoroughbreds added one score in the final three minutes, but the Garnet defense held up to preserve their one-goal advantage.
