SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College men's tennis team defeated Harford Community College, 5-2, at the Mullan Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Garnet swept doubles play and won four of the six singles matches.
Aadhi Raja,
Nicholas Choo,
Andres Fente, and
Seth Sadikov all won twice on the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Raja and Fente rolled to a 6-1 victory at first doubles to start the afternoon.
Kevin Jiang and Sadikov picked up a 6-4 win at the third spot.
Winston Zhang and Choo teamed up at second doubles and gutted out a 7-6 (7-5) tiebreaker win.
- Raja took care of his opponent at first singles in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5. Choo dropped just one game in his match at the third position, winning 6-1, 6-0.
- Fente shut out his foe in the first set at fourth singles, 6-0. The junior closed out the win with a 6-2 decision in the second set. At sixth singles, Sadikov pulled out a close 7-6 victory in the first set before earning a 6-4 success in the second.
- The Fighting Owls picked up their points at second and fifth singles. Zhang won the first set at the second spot, 6-4, before falling in the second, 5-7. The sophomore then lost a super-set tiebreaker, 6-10. Jiang dropped the opening set at the fifth position, 5-7, before bouncing back with a 6-1 triumph in the second. Jiang then lost a tight third-set tiebreaker, 9-11.
