HAVERFORD, Pa. – The No. 13 Swarthmore College women's soccer team dominated play at Haverford College on Saturday, but had to settle for a 0-0 draw against the Fords in the final regular season contest.
The Garnet had commanding advantages in shots (25-10) and corner kicks (14-1) but were unable to find the back of the net. The Haverford goalkeeper made 12 saves to thwart the Swarthmore attack.
Dahlia Bedward stopped six shots to earn her fifth shutout of the campaign for the Garnet.
Swarthmore topped the Centennial Conference standings with a 9-0-1 record and will host a semifinal game on Friday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bedward made the first stop of the game in the 15
th minute, coming out and knocking down a free kick from short of midfield.
Lauren Lior then had a clean look from the top of the box seconds later but it was corralled by the goalkeeper.
- The Garnet had another strong chance in the 27
th minute as
Celia Kanellakos set up
Nicole Jensen with a cross-field pass. Jensen fired a rocket from the top of the box but the keeper got their hands up to knock it down.
- In the 37
th minute, Swarthmore was awarded a corner kick and the ball found Bela Odhihambo in the middle of the box. The rookie booted a shot to the right side but the goalie made a diving save to their left to keep the game scoreless. In the final minutes of the half, Bedward stopped another free kick opportunity, showing extreme focus and coming up with the ball while surrounded by two Haverford attackers.

Ava Gizzie had the first crack at a goal in the second half but was stopped by another diving save just under four minutes in. In the 81
st minute, Kanellakos blasted a high shot that was tipped up over the crossbar by the goalkeeper. Odhihambo got off a header on the ensuing corner kick but it was again turned aside by the goalie.

Jordan Vrees had the final prime chance for the Garnet in the 84
th minute, taking another shot from the top of the box that was knocked up and over by the Fords keeper.
