Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Falls to No. 9 Dickinson in Fast-Paced Battle

SWARTHMORE, PA. - The Swarthmore College men's soccer team allowed three second-half goals as the Garnet dropped a hard-fought battle against No. 9 Dickinson College, 3-0, on Saturday night.

The Garnet offense matched Dickinson's fast-paced attack as both teams exchanged blows in an entertaining opening half. Swarthmore's offense created several scoring chances for themselves, but couldn't capitalize on its chances. The Red Devils then ran away with the game with three-unanswered scores in the second half.

Colin Crowe battled for the Garnet defense, making five saves in a full 90-minutes of action. The rookie kept the high-powered Dickinson attack off the board in the opening half.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Garnet were aggressive off the opening touch, nearly stealing a goal in the opening minute of action. Len Yamabe set up Joseph Eyiolowope with a beautiful feed, as the senior nearly touched a deflection past the keeper. Moments later, Eyiolowope wrestled his way past the defense, but fired a strike just wide of the net.

- Early in the opening half, Swarthmore maintained pressure on the Red Devils. In the 15th minute, Yamabe forced the keeper to make an outstanding kick save as Dickinson turned away a quality scoring chance.

- The Garnet defense caught a break in the 17th minute. The Red Devils played a free kick inside the box, which deflected off the head of an attacker and ricocheted upwards off Crowe's gloves. The rookie keeper made a heads up play to get in front of the redirection, but was fortunate that the rebound tipped off the crossbar.

- Crowe made five saves in the half, including several high-leverage stops. Jackson Haynes was excellent in slowing down a fast-paced Dickinson attack. The senior defender made a heads-up play in the 35th minute to defuse a scoring attempt with a sliding deflection inside the box.

- After the Garnet controlled possession for much of the opening five minutes of the second, Dickinson took the lead with a breakaway goal in the 51st minute. The Red Devils used their speed to get behind the Garnet back line and capitalized on their opportunity on net.

- Following Dickinson's goal, the Garnet immediately countered with their best scoring chance of the evening. Yamabe centered the ball to Toshiro Kenney inside the box, who directed a header past the keeper, but off the crossbar.

- The Red Devils added on insurance tallies in the 57th and 77th minutes to build a three-goal advantage. Abdoul Diallo nearly got one back off a corner attempt in the 73rd minute, but had his header denied by the keeper.
