GREENWOOD, Ind. – Swarthmore College placed 12 student-athletes on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Men's and Women's At-Large Teams that were announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Samuel Ginsberg,
Von Mabbs,
Alex Strauch,
Carter Strauch, and
Drew Tyson from men's lacrosse, as well as
Dylan Zhang of men's golf, were the Garnet's representatives on the Men's At-Large Team.
The Women's At-Large Team featured
Sophia Hitchingham,
Katherine Kohn, and
Anna Stancofski of the field hockey team, along with
Isabela Bloomquist,
Mia Holland, and
Helen Stafford from women's lacrosse.
To be eligible for Academic All-District accolades, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, meet certain athletics participation criteria, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or better. The Academic All-District Team is part of the Academic All-America program, which is the longest running and premier award for athletic and academic success across college sports.
Mabbs was an All-America Second Team selection by USA Lacrosse Magazine while
Carter Strauch was a third team honoree by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association. Ginsberg,
Alex Strauch, and Tyson all received All-America honorable mention from the USILA.
Zhang broke his own school record for single-season scoring average (74.25) and garnered All-Region honors for the second year in a row.
Stancofski earned All-America Third Team accolades from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. Kohn and Hitchingham were both selected to the NFHCA All-Region Second Team.
Stafford was a member of the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Region Second Team. Bloomquist and Holland were recognized on the All-Centennial Second Team.
