SWARTHMORE, Pa. -  Brad Koch, Marian Ware Director of Athletics, announces the elevation of Chris Irvin to Assistant Athletic Director. Irvin will begin his new role as the Assistant Athletic Director, Finance & Community Engagement on July 1.

"I'm truly grateful for this opportunity to serve in my new role as Assistant Athletic Director, Finance & Community Engagement," said Irvin. "I'm looking forward to the positive impact that my role will have, not only within our department, but for the overall student-athlete experience here at Swarthmore College."

Irvin will continue to provide primary support to the Director of Athletics in fiscal day-to-day operations. His responsibilities include managing budgetary processes and functions for the department to ensure compliance with Swarthmore College, Centennial Conference, and NCAA policies. In his expanded role, Irvin will work to enhance the student-athlete experience with a more active, hands-on involvement in community service efforts. Irvin will serve as the point-person for department community engagement efforts, including working closely with the department's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

During his time at Swarthmore, Chris has been very active with professional development and has attended several events, including: Villanova Athletics Leadership Summit, NCAA Inclusion Forum, and the Centennial Conference Inclusion Summit. He has also attended and served as a roundtable facilitator at the Business of Small College Athletics (BOSCA) Regional Workshop and as a College Athletics Business Management Association (CABMA) webinar panelist. Additionally, Chris is currently enrolled as a protege in CABMA's year-long Mentor Me Program.

Irvin arrived at Swarthmore as the Business Operations Manager during the 2020-21 academic year. Before joining the Garnet, he served as the Assistant Director of Finance in Drexel University's Kline School of Law. Irvin previously spent six years at La Salle University, where he began his career in athletics as a ticket manager for the Explorers athletic operation for two years, before being promoted to Athletic Business Manager.

Irvin earned a Bachelor's degree from Widener University in Business Management, with a concentration in Sports Management, and later, earned his MBA from La Salle University. He currently resides in Swarthmore with his wife, Kristi, and their two children, Chris Jr. and Kamille.
