SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The No. 36 Swarthmore College women's tennis team opened the postseason with a 5-0 victory over Washington College in the first round of the Centennial Conference Tournament on Tuesday. The third-seeded Garnet advance to the semifinals, where they will travel to the number two seed, Haverford College.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swarthmore started with a 1-0 lead when the Shorewomen were unable to field a team at third doubles. 
Erica Stutz and 
Nathalie Williams earned an 8-2 win at the top position for their third straight victory.
 
- 
Spencer Watts and 
Oviya Kumaran also had an 8-2 triumph at second doubles to push their win streak to five and put the Garnet ahead 3-0.
 
- Washington did not have players available at fifth and sixth singles, giving Swarthmore two points by default to end the match.

The Garnet (11-5) battle the Fords on Thursday at 4 p.m. for a spot in the title match.
