Hardiman Notches OT Winner in Career-High Night at Muhlenberg

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The No. 15 Swarthmore College men's lacrosse team outlasted Muhlenberg College, 13-12, in an overtime thriller on Wednesday night. Michael Hardiman sealed the victory for the Garnet with the game-winning goal to highlight a five-goal performance.

Hardiman set a career-high in both points and goals scored. The junior rallied for five goals and one assist, while attempting just seven shots. Carter Strauch helped lead the way offensively with three goals, while Jackson Brosgol got his teammates involved all night with a trio of assists.

Drew Tyson had another strong night between the pipes with 17 saves. The sophomore has recorded double-digit saves in four-straight games and has made 17 or more saves in three-straight contests.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swarthmore distanced themselves early with a 6-2 advantage in the first quarter. Following the game's opening goal from Muhlenberg, the Garnet rallied for five-straight goals to take a commanding lead. Hardiman notched the game-tying score with 8:04 left, and then assisted a Von Mabbs score to put Swarthmore in front. Carter Strauch then scored a natural hat trick with three-straight tallies to pull ahead by four goals. Brosgol assisted the senior's first two scores, while Rex Mabbs contributed on the third goal. The Muhls broke their scoring drought with 3:07 left, before Hardiman notched his second goal before the first intermission.

- Hardiman completed his hat trick with the opening goal of the second quarter. The junior found the back of the net at the 11:50 mark with an assist from Von Mabbs. Muhlenberg then made up ground with a pair of goals to end the half, 7-4.

- The Muhls got off to a quick start with a pair of goals early in the third quarter. Muhlenberg pulled within one goal after connecting on its fourth-straight score. Hardiman got the Garnet back on track with a much-needed goal to halt the Muhls momentum, before Ryder Maston scored to give Swarthmore a three-goal lead. Von Mabbs added one more score before the end of the third, but Muhlenberg was able to add two scores to pull within a pair, 10-8.

- Muhlenberg continued to hang around with the opening goal of the fourth quarter, before Rex Mabbs got the goal back with a Swarthmore tally. The Muhls then stunned the Garnet with three-unanswered scores to take its first lead since scoring the game's opening tally. With their backs against the wall, Rex Mabbs answered the call with the game-tying goal with 1:13 remaining. The sophomore accounted for both of the team's fourth quarter scores to force overtime, 12-12.

- In overtime, Tyson made a couple key saves as the Garnet defense held strong against Muhelberg's attack.
