Collins competes in freestyle at Centennial Championships

No. 11 Women’s Swimming Continues Centennial Dominance Over Dickinson

CARLISLE, Pa - The No. 11 Swarthmore College women's swimming team handled business on the road with another commanding Centennial Conference win over Dickinson College, 165-38, on Saturday. 

The Garnet have won 35–straight matchups against conference opponents, while capturing their 33rd consecutive head-to-head victory. Swarthmore won every event against the Devils and have won 24-of-25 events to open the season.

Quinn Weygandt did nothing but win this afternoon with top finishes in all three of her races. The junior was victorious in the 100 IM, 200 breaststroke and 200 backstroke. Genine Collins also combined for three wins. The sophomore standout won the 50 and 100 freestyles, while leading off a top finish in the 200 freestyle relay.



HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swarthmore claimed the top-two spots in the 400 medley relay. The team of Maya Ambardekar, Sophie Rotival, Norah Rutkowski and Ainsley Jane Tambling finished at 4:01.02 to grab first overall. The Garnet B relay touched the wall at 4:03.23 to beat Dickinson by seven seconds. 

- Lauren Rohde took first overall in the 400 IM with a time of 4:42.93. Annaliese Chen followed closely behind with a 4:45.92 effort in second place.

- Kate Hallmark finished sub-two minutes in the 200 freestyle to earn first overall. The junior raced to a 1:59.94 mark to lead the field. Mackenzie Tucker (2:01.76), Georgi Mathews (2:02.65) and Annabelle Hoover (2:03.29) rounded out the top-four finishers in the event. 

- Collins picked up her first of two victories in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.23. Sophie Rodner (25.44), Tambling (25.51) and Ava Craig (25.93) helped claim a top-four sweep in the event. 

- Weygandt started off a successful afternoon with a narrow victory in the 100 IM. The junior raced to a time of 1:00.53 as she narrowly beat out Rotival, who finished at 1:00.60. Later in the meet, Weygandt added her second win in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:08.82. 

- Chen earned a victory in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:10.47. The senior posted the fastest time in the conference and the eighth-fastest mark in the nation. Elle Anthony took second with a time of 2:17.73. 

- Collins grabbed her second victory with a 53.36 finish in the 100 freestyle. Ava Craig followed with a 54.26 mark, while Erin Szuromi took third at 55.73. 

- Hallmark became a multi-winner with a top finish in the 500 freestyle. The junior finished at 5:19.43 to beat out Dickinson by nine seconds.

- Weygandt led a Swarthmore top-four sweep in the 200 breaststroke to claim her third victory. She paced the field with a time of 2:31.05, while Rutkowski (2:32.04), Hoover (2:34.53) and Sophia Caceres (2:36.95) all finished ahead of Dickinson. 

- The Garnet ended the afternoon with a victory in the 200 freestyle. The team of Collins, Cara Dominci, Libby Turner and Craig grabbed the top finish with a time of 1:38.96. The Garnet showed off their depth in the freestyle by claiming the top-four finishes in the relay.

The Garnet (4-0, 4-0) travel to Chicago to take on elite competition at the D3 Shootout on Friday, November 8.
