Women’s Swimming Remains Unbeaten, Takes Down Rowan and Kean

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The No. 16 Swarthmore College women's swimming team rolled past a pair of tough New Jersey Athletic Conference opponents as they swept Rowan University and Kean University on Saturday.

The Garnet defeated the Profs, 177-66, while overtaking the Cougars, 182-61. Swarthmore's women have not lost a dual meet since the 2019-2020 season as the program captured its 27th and 28th consecutive victories.

Swarthmore once again showcased its remarkable depth with seven different swimmers securing individual victories. Genine Collins led the charge with a pair of wins in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly as the team's lone multi-event winner. The Garnet continued their dominance by capturing both relay events and winning all but three individual contests.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Garnet opened the meet with a top finish in the 200 medley relay. The team of Kaja Arusha, Sophie Rotival, Ashley Wong and Collins grabbed the top position with a 1:46.94 effort to beat out Kean and Rowan's top relay.

- Quinn Weygandt led the entire way with a first-place effort in the 400 IM with a time of 4:29.87. She was followed by Lauren Rohde, who beat out Rowan for second place with a 4:33.54 effort.

- Georgi Mathews paced the opening heat with an impressive showing in the 200 freestyle. The junior dominated her heat with a time of 1:56.58. Mathews' time also held up in the second heat as she beat out Kate Hallmark (1:57.66) and Elle Anthony (1:58.23) for the top spot. Hallmark and Anthony grabbed second and third, respectively, for a Swarthmore sweep.

- Rotival maintained her dominance with a top finish in the 100 breaststroke. The junior touched the wall at 1:05.68 to beat out challengers from Kean and Rowan.

- Annaliese Chen touched the wall just before a Kean competitor to grab the top spot in the 200 butterfly at 2:09.51. Sophia Ulvestad took third in the event with a 2:11.53 mark.

- Collins built on her successful rookie campaign with the top spot in the 50 freestyle. The first-year touched the wall at 24.14, while Ainsley Jane Tambling finished at 25.02 to take third overall. Collins later grabbed first overall in the 100 butterfly (57.91), while Wong followed with a 58.27 finish. Ulvestad and Sarah Conley also placed third and fourth in the event as all of Swarthmore's swimmers beat out the rest of the field.

- Anthony placed first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.14, while Tambling grabbed another third place finish with a 54.93 mark. Anthony beat her closest competitor by nearly a minute.

- Swarthmore took second and third behind Rowan's All-American in the 200 backstroke. Lexi Duffy finished as the runner-up with a time of 2:07.60, while Anna Liu (2:08.58), Weygandt (2:08.78) and Erin Szuromi (2:12.19) followed in order. Liu posted the sixth fastest time in team history, while Weygandt's effort ranked sixth. The Garnet also placed second and third in the 100 backstroke with Duffy (58.65) and Wong (59.78) leading the way.

- Kate Hallmark led the charge with a first-place finish in the 500 freestyle. The sophomore finished at 5:11.84, while Rohde followed in a close second with a 5:13.84 effort.

- Swarthmore ended the afternoon with a top finish in the 400 freestyle relay. The team of Weygandt, Tambling, Hallmark and Anthony bested the competition with a time of 3:35.11.
