GLASSBORO, N.J. – The Swarthmore College field hockey team gave third-ranked Rowan University a great fight on Wednesday night, but ultimately succumbed to the Profs, 2-1, in non-conference action.
The Garnet outshot nationally-ranked Rowan by a 10-8 count, including a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Sophia Hitchingham found the back of the cage for Swarthmore, her first goal of the season.

- The Garnet started the second half strong with two shots and a penalty corner in the opening three minutes. However, the Rowan keeper turned both scoring attempts aside and the Profs countered with the go-ahead goal at the 11:35 mark.
- Swarthmore registered four shots for the rest of the contest and pulled the goalkeeper for an extra attacker with just over five minutes remaining but were unable to net the equalizer.
