SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College men's soccer team peppered the Rosemont College defense with 24 shots, including 10 on goal, but the Garnet came up empty in a 1-0 season-opening loss to the Ravens on Friday.
 
Swarthmore earned advantages in shots (24-7) and corner kicks (7-2) while creating several quality chances but was unable to finish. The Garnet defense held Rosemont to just two shot attempts in the second half as Swarthmore controlled the majority of play.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swarthmore registered the first three shots of the contest to go along with two corner kicks in the opening 10 minutes but was unable to put their opportunities on frame.
 
- The Garnet began to find the net over the final 30 minutes, putting five shots on goal, but could not beat the Rosemont goalkeeper. Bless Tumushabe and Joseph Eyiolowope each had two shots for Swarthmore.
 
- The Ravens registered the only goal of the game with a left-post header off a throw shortly before halftime.
 
- In the second half, the Garnet pressed to find the equalizer, producing a 16-shot barrage during the period. However, the Ravens' keeper came up with five more stops to spoil Swarthmore's home opener.
