Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men’s Lacrosse Falls in Centennial Conference Final

CARLISLE, PA. - Competing in the Centennial Conference Finals, the No. 2 seeded Swarthmore men's lacrosse team were taken down by No. 1 seed Dickinson College, losing to the Red Devils by score of 13-7 on Sunday, May 7.

Offensively, the Garnet saw multi-goal performances out of junior Carter Strauch, first year Clay Almgren and sophomore Danny Lowe, with each attacker notching two scores on the day.

In goal, Swarthmore were anchored by a valiant performance from first year Ryan Pretzer, as the keeper tallied 13 saves while facing down 41 shots.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Dickinson took an early 2-0 lead, scoring twice within the first four minutes of the first quarter.

- The Garnet responded just three minutes later, slicing the Devils' advantage in half thanks to a rocket from Carter Strauch.

- Swarthmore's success would not last however, as three more Dickinson goals to close out the first period grew their advantage to 5-1 over the Garnet.

- Down but certainly not out, Swarthmore responded swiftly in the opening minutes of the second quarter. Goals from Carter Strauch and Lowe just seconds apart got the Garnet right back into the game, shrinking their deficit to just two at 5-3, a scoreline that would hold into the break.

- Two early Devil goals opened the second half scoring, expanding Dickinson's lead to 7-3.

- The Garnet responded in kind, hammering in two of their own thanks to scorching shots from Lowe and Almgren, setting their deficit back to two at 7-5.

- Despite success on the offensive end, Swarthmore's defense simply could not quell a ferocious Dickinson attack, conceding two more goals for a 9-5 Devil lead going into the final period.

- Dickinson grew their advantage to kick off the fourth, going up 12-5 over the Garnet. While scores from Almgren and junior Von Mabbs breathed some life back into a faltering Swarthmore offense, the comeback proved too little too late. A final Devil goal sealed Swarthmore's 13-7 Centennial Conference Championship loss.
