GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's swimming team completed their Centennial Championship defense as they captured their second-straight conference title on Sunday afternoon. 

The Garnet won the event in record fashion as they beat their own meet record from last season with 984 points. The total marks the most scored by a team in Championship history by either a men's or women's team. Swarthmore beat the next closest competitor by 241 points as Gettysburg placed second with 743 points.

Elle Anthony highlighted the session with a conference record and NCAA B cut in the 100 freestyle, while she also helped set a championship record with an NCAA B cut time as the anchor of the 400 freestyle relay. Erin Szuromi also grabbed her second individual gold on the night. 



HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kate Hallmark opened the night with a silver medal and NCAA B cut in the 1650 freestyle with a 17:18.47 finish. The first-year was narrowly edged out by Missy Leonard, who earned the Centennial Most Outstanding Female Performer. Olivia Stoetzer also grabbed bronze for Swarthmore in the event with a time of 17:38.37. 

- Szuromi won the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:05.26, while Lexi Duffy grabbed bronze at 2:06.62. Sarah Conley followed in fourth place with a 2:07.44 mark and Mackenzie Tucker grabbed seventh at 2:09.02 to earn a spot on the podium. Ashley Wong also had a strong showing in the event as she finished as the runner-up in the consolation final. 

- Anthony wrapped up an incredible championship debut with a gold medal in the 100 freestyle. The first-year touched the wall at 50.95 to grab a conference record and earn an NCAA B cut. Ainsley Jane Tambling also reached the podium in the event with a sixth place effort at 53.04, while Cara Lee placed first in the consolation final at 54.39.

- Sophie Rotival earned another medal with a silver in the 200 breaststroke at 2:23.76. Gaby Ma and Annabella Boardman also reached the podium as they placed fifth and sixth, respectively. Ma touched the wall at 2:26.02, while Boardman finished with a 2:26.21 mark.

- Annaliese Chen and Lauren Rohde grabbed silver and bronze in the 200 butterfly. Chen touched the wall at 2:05.92, while Rohde posted a time of 2:06.71. Quinn Weygandt just missed out on her third individual medal as she placed fourth with a 2:07.62 mark. The first-year earned a pair of gold medals in her championship debut.

- The Garnet swept the 400 freestyle relays to close out the championships. The team of Hallmark, Szuromi, Jane Tambling and Anthony set a championship record and earned an NCAA B cut with a time of 3:28.37. Swarthmore also took the consolation final with the team of Rotival, Lee, Tucker and Georgi Mathews finishing at 3:32.74.
