Men’s Swimming Earns Sweep in Record-Breaking Weekend Finale

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The No. 19 Swarthmore College men's swim team earned a pair of dual meet victories over Salisbury University, 207-125, and Ursinus College, 263-65, on Saturday. The Garnet remained unbeaten in the Centennial Conference and improved to 5-1 overall. 

Cami Wilson headlined the night with his second Ware Pool Record of the weekend, while Jacob Sherman took down another record in the third session. In total, the men broke seven pool records and took down one program record. 

HOW IT HAPPENED - SESSION TWO 
- After achieving Ware Pool records in three of five events last night, the Garnet picked up where they left off with a pool record in the 200 medley relay to open the morning session. The team of Danny Castle, Ben Wesley, Wilson and Benton Greenberg claimed a top finish of 1:32.07 to narrowly beat out the previous pool record. The finish ranked seventh all-time in program history. 

- Wilson grabbed his second Ware Pool Record of the meet with a top finish of 49.12 in the 100 butterfly. The sophomore previously claimed a pool and program record in the 50 freestyle on Friday. 

- Swarthmore claimed all top-three positions in the 200 freestyle. Castle paced the trio with a time of 1:42.03 as he narrowly beat out his teammate Ben Freeman, who touched the wall at 1:42.16. Ham Williams-Tracy rounded out the top finishers with a time of 1:43.83 to take third overall. Castle moved into eighth all-time with his finish. 

- Matvey Ivanov earned a runner-up finish in the 100 backstroke as he placed at 52.35. The first-year touched the wall first in his heat. 

- The 800 freestyle relay of Cole Griscavage, Freeman, Ham Williams-Tracy and Sam Peterson wrapped up the second session with a first place finish at 6:55.68. 
 
 

HOW IT HAPPENED - SESSION THREE
- Jacob Sherman broke a Ware Pool record in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:51.64. Ivanov won the first heat for the Garnet, while placing third overall with a 1:54.94 mark. 

- Castle and Wilson grabbed the top-two finishes in the 100 freestyle. The first-year touched the wall at 46.18, while Wilson followed in second at 46.43. Castle moved into ninth all-time in program history.

- Andrew Karpenko finished second overall in the 200 breaststroke with a mark of 2:08.43. The senior led for the majority of the race, but was narrowly beat out on the final lap. 

- Peterson and Dylan Ling placed second and third, respectively, in the 200 butterfly. Peterson secured a runner-up finish with a time of 1:54.18, while Ling followed at 1:54.64.

- The 400 freestyle relay of Griscavage, Wilson, Greenberg and Castle capped off a record-breaking weekend with a time of 3:05.44 to earn a new Ware Pool record. The time ranks 10th all-time for the Garnet.
