Volleyball Cruises Past Washington College in Road Sweep. 3-0

CHESTERTOWN, MD. - The Swarthmore College volleyball team picked up an important conference victory with a three-set sweep at Washington College on Wednesday night. The Garnet have not dropped a road contest to the Shorewomen since 2004.

Angelina Heminway paced the offense with a game-high 10 kills, while Jordan Perry and Trisha Razdan each tallied six kills. Kaylee Zhang also contributed to the attack with a game-high four aces.

The Garnet currently sit in fourth place in the Centennial Conference standings. Swarthmore looks to secure a home playoff game with a victory over Haverford College in Saturday's regular season finale.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swarthmore started fast with a 7-2 lead to open the first set. The Garnet then rallied for seven-straight points to expand their lead, 14-3. Swarthmore's run featured four kills from four different players and a Perry ace. Despite falling into an early hole, Washington battled back with a 19-8 run to tie the game at 22-22. The Garnet rose to the adversity as they maintained their lead and put away the set with three-straight points, 25-22.

- The Garnet built themselves another early lead with the opening six points of the second set. The Shorewomen made a late run midway through the stanza, but were unable to gain much ground on the Garnet, who led for the entire set. Swarthmore closed out the set with a 6-1 run as they held on for a 25-17 victory.

- Swarthmore gave themselves an early advantage with a 6-1 run to distance themselves from the Shorewomen, 11-5. Zhang then helped the Garnet expand their lead with a pair of service aces to spark four-unanswered points, 18-9. Swarthmore took care of business as they cruised to victory with a 25-14 win.
