GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The No. 17 Swarthmore College women's swimming team combined for three dual meet victories in its season opener at the Centennial Quad on Saturday. The Garnet topped No. 25 Gettysburg (172-89), while defeating McDaniel College (219-32) and Bryn Mawr College (218-43) in dominant fashion. 

The Garnet won their 21st consecutive dual meet with three wins on the afternoon. First-year Genine Collins won two individual events to headline seven individual winners for Swarthmore. She recorded the nation's top time in the 50 freestyle and fell narrowly short of breaking an eight-year program record for Swarthmore. Collins was also a member of the first place 400 freestyle relay to tally three total wins on the afternoon. 



HOW IT HAPPENED
- Collins impressed in her collegiate debut with a pair of victories in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly. The first-year led a top-three Swarthmore sweep in the 50 freestyle with a mark of 23.86. She was followed by Elle Anthony (24.42) and Ainsley Jane Tambling (24.93). Collins then grabbed another top finish in the 100 butterfly at 58.44. 

- Kate Hallmark touched the wall first in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:49.87. The returning All-American beat out the nearest competitor by nearly three seconds. 

- Erin Szuromi and Lexi Duffy finished first and second in the 100 backstroke. Szuromi recorded a time of 59.08, while Duffy followed with a 59.25 mark. 

- Sophie Rotival recorded the fastest time in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:06.49 finish to win the event. Last season's two-time All-American claimed the top spot by nearly two seconds to beat out Gettysburg.

- Annaliese Chen paced a Swarthmore top-three sweep in the 200 butterfly. Chen led the pack with a 2:11.94 finish with Lauren Rohde (2:13.17) and Sophia Ulvestad (2:13.81) following behind. 

- Duffy added to a strong day with a first place finish in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:08.44. She also finished as the runner-up to her teammate in the 100 backstroke. 

- Ava Craig picked up her first collegiate victory with a first place effort in the 500 freestyle. The first-year touched the wall at 5:15.30 to finish first by nearly five seconds. 

- Quinn Weygandt started her sophomore campaign with a victory in the 200 IM. Weygandt touched the wall at 2:12.43 in the final individual event of the afternoon.

- Swarthmore opened and closed the meet with relay victories. The team of Szuromi, Rotival, Ashley Wong and Anthony battled to a top finish in the 200 medley relay at 1:47.19. The 400 freestyle relay of Collins, Szuromi, Tambling and Anthony then closed the afternoon with a time of 3:35.96 to win the event.
