Men’s Swimming Sweeps Centennial Quad, Earns Seven First Place Finishes

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The No. 21 Swarthmore College men's swimming team swept the Centennial Quad with a pair of victories over Gettysburg College and McDaniel College on Saturday night. The Garnet beat the Bullets, 134.5-126.5, while cruising to victory over the Green Terror, 219-37. 

Swarthmore was victorious in five individual events, while sweeping both relays. First-year Danny Castle and sophomore Cami Wilson led the charge with a pair of first place finishes, respectively, while also helping secure victories in both relay events. Dylan Herick earned his first collegiate victory with the team's other individual victory. 



HOW IT HAPPENED
- Castle was victorious in both the 100 and 200 freestyles. The first-year opened with a 1:44.76 finish in the 200 freestyle, while posting a mark of 47.21 in the 100 freestyle. Cole Griscavage followed behind the first-year in the 100 freestyle with a 47.47 mark. 

- Wilson swept both his individual events with victories in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly. The sophomore led a top-three Swarthmore sweep in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.38. He was followed by Ben Wesley and Griscavage, who finished at 21.45 and 21.82, respectively. Wilson then capped off his individual performances with a 50.45 effort in the 100 butterfly. Will Kilponen was the runner-up behind Wilson with a 51.97 finish. 

- Herick claimed the top spot in the 100 backstroke with a time of 53.11. Jacob Sherman narrowly placed as the runner-up in the event with a 53.24 effort.

- Dylan Ling and Kilponen took second and third place in the 200 butterfly. Ling touched the wall at 1:58.58, while Kilponen followed with a 2:00.35 mark.

- Jacob Sherman and Herick were second and third in the 200 backstroke. Sherman placed second at 1:54.79, while Herick followed at 1:57.65. 

- Wesley earned his second runner-up finish of the day with a time of 2:12.30 in the 200 breaststroke. He was also a member of both first place relays. 

- The Garnet began and ended their afternoon with relay victories. The 200 medley relay of Joey Lukner, Wesley, Wilson and Castle opened the event with a first-place finish of 1:34.92. The team of Wilson, Castle, Griscavage and Wesley was victorious in the 400 freestyle with a 3:08.09 mark.
