CARLISLE, Pa. - Competing for the first time in the new year, the Swarthmore men's swimming team took down Centennial rival Dickinson College by a score of 190-70 on Saturday, Jan. 21st.
 
The Garnet dominated in Carlisle, finishing first in 12 of 14 events as they took home ten individual wins and swept the relays. Junior 
Ben Wesley and sophomore 
Jacob Sherman lead the way for the Garnet, with Wesley picking up three event wins and Sherman notching two.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Garnet started off the day strong in the 200 yard medley relay, finishing 1-2-4 as the quartet of first year Wesley, sophomore 
Cole Griscavage and first years 
Cami Wilson and 
Dylan Ling took first with a time of 1:36.28.
- Junior 
Ben Freeman captured Swarthmore's first individual event win, finishing first with a time of 10:10.57 in the 1000 yard freestyle, a time over 13 seconds faster than second place.
- Sherman seized his first of two event wins in the 100 yard backstroke, edging out his competition with a time of 55.19.
- Wesley notched his first of three wins in the 100 yard breaststroke, finishing ahead of teammate Griscavage by just 0.16 seconds at 1:01.25
- First year 
Sam Peterson continued the Garnet's dominance with a win in the 200 yard butterfly, finishing with a time of 2:00.39, just 0.18 seconds ahead of second place.
- Senior 
John Grey Crosby finished first in the 50 yard freestyle, outsprinting his competition at 22.24 seconds.
- Wesley led a 1-2-3-4  Garnet sweep of the  100 yard freestyle, coming in with a time of 48.34 seconds.
- Sherman wracked up another win in the 200 yard backstroke, finishing with a time of 1:57.63.
- First year 
Omar Ebied took home his first event win of 2023 in the 200 yard breaststroke, posting a time of 2:16.62.
- First year 
Cami Wilson notched another win for the Garnet in the 100 yard butterfly, finishing with a time of 52.33 seconds.
- Wesley captured his third win in the last individual event of the meet, posting a time of 1:59.91 in the 200 yard IM.
- The Garnet wrapped up the meet strong, going 1-2 in the 200 yard freestyle relay. The squad of Wilson, Griscavage, junior 
Ethan Marotte and first year Ben Greenberg put up a winning time of 1:27.91.

Returning to Swarthmore for their first home meet of 2023, the Garnet will host Gettysburg College on Saturday, Jan. 28th at 1:00 p.m.
