Women's Soccer Tops Marywood on Road, Chang Scores Twice

Box Score SCRANTON, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's soccer team rallied for three unanswered goals on the road to a 3-1 victory over Marywood University. Abby Chang set the tone with a phenomenal performance on the attack, while Amelia Mounts recorded the game-winning goal.

Chang scored twice and tallied five shots with four shots on goal. The sophomore got behind the Pacers defenders all afternoon as Chang generated several quality scoring chances for her squad. Mounts also came through clutch with the go-ahead tally in the 61st minute to set Swarthmore up for victory.

Swarthmore's defense and midfield did an exceptional job of limiting scoring chances for the Pacers. Nora Greer also stepped up and made three saves in a solid performance in net.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swarthmore generated a handful of quality scoring chances early in the contest, but couldn't put one in the back of the net. Chang and Dani Kaufman-Sedano kept the opposing keeper on her toes as they used their speed to create havoc in the box. Marea Lee nearly snuck one through with traffic in front of the net, but Marywood's defense was able to clear the ball before it crossed the goal line.

- Marywood connected on the opening tally in the 27th minute after finding space on the attacking transition. However, the Garnet provided a quick answer when Chang delivered the equalizer in the 30th minute. The sophomore dribbled around the center backs to create a shooting lane and then delivered a strike to the back of the net.

- Mounts tallied the go-ahead score in the 61st minute. The senior beat the keeper to a loose ball towards the near corner of the box, created an open lane to the goal and found the open net for the game-winning score.

- Later in the contest, Chang added another score in the 88th minute. Chang beat her lone defender on a breakaway, then snuck one past the keeper for a late insurance goal. She also nearly added a third goal after hitting the post earlier in the game. The sophomore leads the team with three goals and seven points on the season, which matches her points total from 2021.
