BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Earning their third shutout of the season, the Swarthmore field hockey team downed Moravian University 2-0 on Saturday, Sept. 17th.
Â
Putting on a dominating offensive performance, the Garnet saw two different goal scorers on the day, with both sophomore
Grace Fuselier and senior
Quinn Basewitz putting the ball in the back of the cage. On the defensive end, first-year
Cassandra Conklin proved a brick wall in goal, securing the shutout and posting two saves.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Â Â Â Â While neither team was able to generate any goals in the first period, the Garnet caught fire in period number two.
-Â Â Â Â Catching the rebound off of her own penalty corner, Fusselier took advantage of an assist off of senior
Martina Kampel to slam the ball past the keeper for Swarthmore's first score.
-Â Â Â Â Looking to keep their foot on the gas, the Garnet hit paydirt once again less than a minute later. Off of another Fusselier corner, Basewitz caught an assist from senior
Callie Cho to score her first goal of the game, putting Swarthmore up 2-0 less than five minutes into the second period.
-Â Â Â Â The Garnet's defense took care of the rest, smothering Moravian's attack and holding the Greyhounds to just four shots on the day, only two of which were on target.Â
