ORLANDO, Fla. – Swarthmore College men's tennis star
Charley Force battled tough as he advanced to the second round of the 2022 NCAA Individual National Championships at the USTA National Campus on Friday.
In the first match, the sophomore defeated fourth seeded, Robert Liu from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Force won the match in two sets with a score of 7-5, 6-1. He won 70% of his points on a second return for a total of 16 points.
The second round match-up featured a battle of Centennial Conference foes as Force took on Vishnu Joshi from Johns Hopkins. Force fell by a score of 6-4, 6-1. In singles action, the pair never played each other, however, they split two matches is doubles play. Force and
Rushil Patel took the first match on April 30th, 8-6, while Joshi and Marco Azar battled to an 8-7 (7-4) victory in the Centennial Conference finals.
Force finishes the season with a 16-6 record, and was the first Garnet tennis player to appear in the NCAA Singles Tournament since Mark Fallati in 2018.
