SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Swarthmore College Men's Lacrosse won an overtime thriller over Haverford on Saturday as they celebrated Senior Day at Clothier Field Stadium. The Garnet defeated the Fords, 12-11.
Michael Hardiman scored the game-winner in the extra frame on a fantastic pass by
Von Mabbs. Hardiman and Mabbs each tallied three goals, while
Carter Strauch and
Quin Seivold scored a pair.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mabbs scored all three of his goals in the opening quarter, including a man-up goal to give the Garnet a 3-1 advantage. Seivold and Strauch recorded assists on two of the goals by Mabbs.
Jackson Brosgol gave Swarthmore a 4-2 lead as he scored on a man-up opportunity with less than two minutes to play in the first quarter.
- The Fords took a 7-6 lead into the half-time break but Hardiman opened the scoring of the second quarter with a goal 30-seconds in with the help of Mabbs.
- In the third quarter, the two teams combined for only three goals. Seivold and Hardiman accounted for the two goals scored by the Garnet as the teams entered the fourth tied at 8-8. With the help of
Ryan Chambliss, Strauch opened the scoring in the fourth as the Garnet and Fords exchanged punches. Seivold and
Ben Schaeffer would score the next two goals as Swarthmore held an 11-9 lead with 45-seconds left to play.
- On the game winner, Mabbs found a cutting Hardiman in front of the net, who immediately turned to score the over time goal.

Jack Ballou tallied two saves in the start, while
Shane Nachshen collected 12 saves to earn the victory in the cage.
- Prior to the game, the men's lacrosse program honored the ten seniors that were playing their final home game at Clothier Field Stadium. Ballou, Schaeffer, Seivold,

Dean LaDrido,
Will Drake,
Luke Ingersoll,
Liam Maniscalco,
Will Vespole and
Rob Wickstrom were honored on the field.
