LANCASTER, Pa. - No. 16 Swarthmore College Men's Basketball earned an easy decision over Franklin & Marshall College, 100-69, on Saturday afternoon. The Garnet improve to 18-3 and 12-2 in Centennial Conference play, while the Diplomats drop to 8-13 and 5-9.
Led by 21 points and six rebounds from
Vinny DeAngelo, Swarthmore scored 100-points for the first time since the 2019-20 season. The last time the Garnet recorded triple digits in points was on November 9th, 2019 as they took down non-conference foe, Eastern University. In conference play, the last time Swarthmore scored at least 100-points was when the Garnet earned a 100-82 victory over Dickinson College on February 9th, 2019.
In 15 minutes off the bench,
George Corzine shot 100% from the field and free throw line. Corzine was 5-of-5 from the field and 5-of-5 from the free throw line as he tallied 15 points for the Garnet.
Michael Caprise tallied a team-high seven rebounds and seven points for Swarthmore.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- DeAngelo knocked the opening basket just eight seconds into the game. A few minutes later, the sophomore guard stole the ball from Soloman Mathis and scored a fast break layup. The Garnet tallied eight steals and forced 19 turnovers. Swarthmore scored 29 points off of those Diplomats turnovers.
- As time was expiring, DeAngelo hit a mid-range jumber to give Swarthmore a double-double lead at the break. The Garnet headed to the locker room with a 44-25 lead, which was the seventh time this season they scored at least 44 points in the first 20-minutes played.

Ryan Ingram and
George Visconti combined for seven of the first nine points scored by the Garnet in the second half. Back-to-back buckets mid-way through the second half by
Matt Mulvey and Caprise gave Swarthmore a 30-point edge.
- Swarthmore shot 5-of-6 from the free throw line in the first half, and 11-of-16 in the second half. The Garnet received 45 points off the bench from Mulvey (12),
