Women's Swimming Sweeps Centennial Quad, Earns 12 First Place Finishes

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's swimming team returned to action with three conference dual meet victories at the Franklin & Marshall College Centennial Quad on Saturday.

The Garnet took down the host Franklin & Marshall 208-53, bested Ursinus College 194-65 and dominated McDaniel College 219-31.

Swarthmore finished first overall in a combined 12 events. Lexi Duffy, Gaby Ma, Elle Anthony and Annaliese Chen each captured a pair of victories to lead the Garnet, while Ashley Wong and Kate Hallmark also placed first overall. Swarthmore also swept the relay events as they touched the wall first in the 200 medley and 400 freestyle.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swarthmore swept the top-three spots in the 100 backstroke. Lexi Duffy paced the trio with a 59.52 finish, while Erin Szuromi and Ashley Wong followed with times of 59:57 and 1:01.04, respectively. Duffy also finished first overall in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:09.31, while Szuromi was second at 2:11.91.

- The Garnet once again captured the top-three finishes in the 100 butterfly. Wong led the trio with a time of 58.38, while Chen and Tambling followed with marks of 59.20 and 1:01.65, respectively.

- Anthony won her first collegiate contest with a 24.56 effort in the 50 freestyle. The first-year then followed her win up with another first place performance in the 100 freestyle at 53.06. Tambling also swam to a top-three finish in the 50 freestyle at 25:35, while Cara Lee was third in the 100 freestyle at 54.70.

- Ma finished first overall in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:06.32 mark, while Annabella Boardman followed with a time of 1:07.39 to place second. Ma also won the 200 breaststroke at 2:28.96, while Sophie Rotival followed at 2:29.48.

- Chen captured her first of two wins with a time of 2:11.55 in the 200 butterfly, before taking first overall in the 200 individual medley at 2:13.29. Lauren Rohde was second in the 200 butterfly at 2:13.53 and third in the 200 individual medley with a 2:17.63 mark.

- Kate Hallmark earned her first career victory in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:47.22. Hallmark was also second in the 500 freestyle with a 5:15.01 mark, while Quinn Wegandt followed with a 5:21.67 effort.

- Weygandt and Georgi Mathews were second and third, respectively, in the 200 freestyle. Weygandt finished at 1:59.09, while Mathews followed with a time of 2:02.56.

- The 200 medley relay team of Wong, Ma, Chen and Anthony opened the afternoon with a first place finish as they touched the wall at 1:47.79. Swarthmore's B relay of Kaja Arusha, Sophie Rotival, Cara Lee and Ainsley Jane Tambling also had a strong showing with a third place finish of 1:52.15.

- The Garnet maintained its dominance with another victory in the 400 freestyle relay. The team of Hallmark, Lee, Weygandt and Anthony finished first with a 3:37.08 mark. Swarthmore also took third in the event with their B relay of Mathews, Mackenzie Tucker, Duffy and Sarah Conley.
