GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Playing in their second overtime match of the season, the Swarthmore field hockey team defeated Gettysburg 2-1 on Saturday, Oct. 1st.

The Garnet saw their goals come off the sticks of junior
Brooke Findlay and senior
Callie Cho. Defensively, first-year
Cassandra Conklin notched three saves while not surrendering a goal until the 57th minute.

HOW IT HAPPENED
	- Defenses ruled the first half between the two Centennial squads, with both the Garnet and the Bullets only tallying two shots through the first two periods. All four attempts were turned away by the keepers, the halftime horn sounding with the scoreboard reading 0-0.
- The Garnet notched their first goal of the match six and a half minutes into the third period, with Findlay fulling capitalizing on a long pass from senior Quinn Basewitz, tapping the ball into the right side of the cage for her second goal in as many matches.
- While the Garnet very nearly closed out the contest in regulation, the Bullets scored in the 57th minute, spoiling Conklin's clean sheet and forcing overtime.
- Undeterred by the extra time however, the Garnet recaptured their lead and the win less than two minutes into overtime. Cho scored off of an excellently served in Findlay corner, giving the Garnet their 2-1 victory.
- Swarthmore now sports a 6-3 record, 2-1 in conference play.
