SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Swarthmore College Women's Basketball fell in a Centennial Conference battle against Johns Hopkins University, 56-48, on Saturday afternoon at Tarble Pavilion.
Kim Kockenmeister led the way with 14 points while
Dana Bandurick and
Erin Cronin each grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. In 24 minutes played off the bench, Cronin added three steals.
Norah Wingfield contributed with ten points as Bandurick finished the contest with nine. The Garnet drop to 9-6 and 8-5 in Centennial play, while the Blue Jays improve to 15-2 and 12-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blue Jays opened the game on a 6-0 run, but the Garnet battled back as they took a 17-16 deficit to the first quarter break. Kockenmeister and
Alyssa Hayashi combined for 11 points in the opening frame.
- A Kockenmeister layup tied the game at 18 early in the second quarter. Kockemeister found
Jordana Sampson cutting in the lane for Swarthmore bucket.
- Mid-way through the third quarter, Bandurick grabbed the defensive board on a Cronin block of an attempted layup by Erin Walsh. Bandurick kicked the ball out to Kockenmeister for a fast break bucket.
- Swarthmore battled back in the fourth quarter as they outscored the visitors, 16-11.
