GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Swarthmore College Women's Basketball fell in a hard Centennial Conference at Gettysburg College, 56-46, on Saturday afternoon. The Garnet drop to 8-3 and 5-2 in league action, while the Bullets improve to 10-2 and 8-0.
After grabbing a defensive rebound,
Dana Bandurick opened the game with a three pointer. The first quarter saw the conference foes exchange baskets to end the opening frame tied at 12. Swarthmore was 2-of-3 from three point range and both teams were exactly 5-of-18 from the field for 27.78%. In the first three minutes of the second quarter, the Garnet opened on a 5-0 run.
The fourth quarter saw Swarthmore battled back to get within six points. A pair of free throws from
Kim Kockenmeister, a jumper by
Alyssa Hayashi and a few points from Bandurick accounted for the battle back.
Behind 16 rebounds and 14 points, Bandurick led the Garnet as the junior collected her eighth double-double this season. It was the guards eighth double-double in the last nine games. Bandurick and
Norah Wingfield each finished the game with a block. Kockenmeister added ten points and five rebounds, while Hayashi finished the contest with six points and four rebounds.
T Sallie collected seven boards and three steals for the Garnet defense.
Emily Smith and
Katelyn Becker each added five points, while
Carolina Lopez finished the game with four points.
Swarthmore hits the court on Tuesday as they travel to take on Johns Hopkins University (10-2, 7-1 CC) in Baltimore, Md.
