SELLINSGROVE, Pa. - No. 19 Swarthmore College Men's Basketball improved to 7-1 with a rout of Susquehanna University on Wednesday evening.
Led by 25 points from
Vinny DeAngelo, the Garnet cruised to a 88-60 victory. The River Hawks dipped to 5-3 with the loss; a 14-point effort from Danny Frauenheim headlined the hosts' box score. DeAngelo's 25 points came in 25 minutes of action played on the court.
The Garnet led from start to finish, as the home team never led in the game. In the first three minutes of play, Swarthmore opened the game on a 10-2 run. A pair of buckets each from DeAngelo and Michael Caprise and a three-pointer from Conor Harkins accounted for the opening points.
DeAngelo and Harkins scored the first nine points for Swarthmore in the second half. A Justin Tucker layup with 2:32 left in the contest gave Swarthmore an 86-53 lead, which was the largest lead of the game. Swarthmore's defense forced the River Hawks in 15 turnovers and the Garnet tallied 28 points off of those turnovers.
Harkins finished the contest with 16 points, while George Visconti and George Corzine added 12 and 11 points, respectively. Caprise and Corzine led the Garnet on the glass as they tallied 12 and seven boards each.
After a few weeks off, the Garnet will return to the court on December 30th as they take on Immacualta University. Tip-off for the non-conference road contest is set for 7:00 p.m.
