Box Score HAVERFORD, Pa. -  Swarthmore College Field Hockey knocked off No. 17 Haverford College and clinched a spot in the Centennial Conference playoffs on Saturday. 
With the 2-1 victory over the rival Fords, the Garnet earned its first conference postseason berth since 2000. Swarthmore improves to 12-5 and 6-4 in CC play, while the Fords drop to 13-4 and 6-4.
Samantha Meacock scored the game winning goal for the Garnet in the 57th minute of play. Similar to a lot of Meacock's goals, 
Chelsea Semper inserted the penalty corner and earned the assist. After the insert from Semper, Meacock dribbled the ball around one defender and fired a shot into the back of the cage for Swarthmore's playoff clinching goal.
In the first quarter, Haverford's Delaney Snowden opened the scoring with a penalty stroke. 
Katherine Kohn tied the game for the Garnet in the 40th minute of play. Kohn led the Garnet with two shots, while Semper and 
Quinn Basewitz added a shot each. The Garnet held the advantage over nationally-ranked Haverford in penalty corners, 8-5.  
Aron Lankford earned the victory in goal as the senior recorded a save. 
Swarthmore will host Haverford in the first round of the Centennial Conference playoffs on Tuesday. Game time is yet to be announced.
