SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Swarthmore College Volleyball earned a four set victory over Gettysburg College in Centennial Conference play on Saturday afternoon at Tarble Pavilion.
The Garnet dropped the first set 21-25, but bounced back to win three straight sets 25-22, 25-23, and 25-17. Swarthmore improves to 6-5 and 2-1 in conference play, while the Bullets fall to 8-6 and 1-2 in the conference.
After dropping the first set, Swarthmore bounced back to claim three of the first five points in set two. A service error by Chelsea O'Leary gave Swarthmore its first point, but a kill from
Alexa Bartlett immediately followed.
Trisha Razdan got in on the action as she collected her first kill of the set to give Swarthmore an early 3-2 lead. With a slight lead, the Garnet rattled off six consecutive points to take a 14-10 advantage. A
Kaylee Zhang kill, followed by two straight kills from Razdan forced the Bullets to call a timeout. Out of the timeout, Razdan recorded another kill from
Sierra Tyson and
Dani Pena collected a pair of service aces.
Razdan led the Garnet with 14 kills, while Zhang tallied 12 and Bartlett recorded eight. Pena collected a team high four service aces and 37 assists. Zhang added four assists, while Tyson collected three.
Hannah Humphreys recorded two block assists, as
Grace Hegland Zhang, Pena and Bartlett tallied a block assist each.
Swarthmore returns back to action on Saturday as they travel to take on McDaniel College. The Centennial Conference match is set to begin at 1pm.
