SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Offense led the way as the Swarthmore College Women's Soccer team defeated Muhlenberg College, 3-1, in Centennial Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Clothier Field Stadium.
The Garnet improve to 4-3-2 and 2-2-1 in the league, while the Mules drop to 1-9-1 and 1-5 in the conference. In the 27th minute of play,
Amy Harris scored the opening goal of the contest. Harris put home the ball off of a corner from
Anwyn Urquhart. A little over ten minutes later,
Abby Chang collected the free ball in the box and put it home for her second goal of the season.
Megan Ruoff added an insurance goal for Swarthmore in the 88th minute as the junior midfielder scored on a free kick from 15 yards out. The Garnet out shot the Mules 21 to 7 and tallied five corners in the contest.
Hope Neale and
Veronica Gibbons each tallied four shots, while Ruoff, Harris,
Allie Zitelli and
Dani Kaufman-Sedano each recorded a pair of shot.
Chantal Reyes earned the victory in the net as she recorded two saves for the Garnet.
The Garnet return to the pitch on Wednesday as they host Ursinus. Kickoff is for the Centennial Conference contest is set for 7:30 pm.
