SWARTHMORE, Pa.--No. 32 Swarthmore College Men's Tennis won a pair of matches in two different states on Saturday, taking care of conference opponent Ursinus College 9-0 in the home 9 a.m. match and fending off No. 35 NYU 6-3 in New York in a 7 p.m. match.

Swarthmore made quick work of the visiting Bears.
Weiyi Zhu and
Noah Cheng played the tighest match of the morning at number one doubles, winning 8-5.
Grant Dill and
Stephen Wong and
Hellman Zhao and
William Teoh each swept their doubles matches 8-0.
Noah Criss took down the Bears top singles player 6-2, 6-1. Cheng earned his second win of the match 6-1, 6-4 at second singles. Zhao won third singles 6-1, 6-2. With the match in hand,
Josiah Myers-Lipton won 8-1 at fourth singles,
Devan Geib won 8-4 at fifth and
Max Gruber took sixth singles 8-2.
Swarthmore 6, NYU 3
Playing at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center following an alumni event, the Garnet rallied in singles play after falling behind in doubles.
Thibault Vernier and
John Lathrop battled to a tiebreaker game in top doubles and won the breaker 7-2. Swarthmore dropped second and third doubles and faced an uphill battle going into singles.
The Garnet came through by winning five of the singles matches. Criss, who won the top singles match in the morning against Ursinus, won the top singles match against NYU at night 7-5, 6-1.
Jiung Jung won 6-4, 6-3 at third singles. Vernier fought for a 7-5, 6-4 win at fourth singles. In the fifth flight, Wong won 6-4, 6-3.
John Nichols-Daly cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory in sixth singles.
Swarthmore will next play in California for spring break beginning with a pair of matches in Pasadena on March 9.
