Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

No. 1 Garnet Complete Unbeaten Regular Season 25-0

WESTMINSTER, Md.—There are 1,070 men's basketball teams competing in the entire NCAA (Divisions I, II and III), and only one of them is undefeated—that team is Swarthmore College.

No, that's not a typo, or a headline from The Onion, No. 1 Swarthmore College Men's Basketball truly is the only team this season without a loss. A resounding 79-42 win by Swarthmore over McDaniel on Saturday, coupled with a loss by Division I's previously unbeaten San Diego State, left Swarthmore as the only team with a perfect slate.

The Garnet tied the Centennial Conference record for longest win streak and secured head coach Landry Kosmalski's 150th career win in the process.

Saturday's contest tilted Swarthmore's direction very early on as the Garnet leapt out on a 16-2 run to open up the game.

Leading scorer George Visconti canned two 3-pointers in the first minute to get the ball rolling, and he didn't miss a shot the rest of the game. He shot a perfect 4-for-4 from long range and 7-for-7 from the floor overall, scoring 18 points in just 19 minutes.

Conor Harkins continues to creep closer to 1,000 points for his career after shooting 5-of-7 from 3-point range to finish with 15 points. He now has 981 points in three seasons.

No other player reached double digits in scoring, but 11 other players did record at least one bucket.

Swarthmore's lead continued to balloon, and the Garnet went into the break up 44-16. The Garnet shot 63 percent from the field in the first period and half McDaniel to just 28.6 percent.

A three-pointer by Justin Tucker pushed Swarthmore's lead to a game-high 39 points with five minutes to go in the second half.

Swarthmore attempted a season-low four free throws and hit two of them. McDaniel went 9-for-20 from the stripe.

The Garnet will be hosting the Centennial Conference semifinals and championship on Friday and Saturday. They await the winner of Tuesday's first-round game between Muhlenberg College and Washington College.
